Air France will add two weekly Paris Charles de Gaulle-San José (Costa Rica) services from Nov. 2, which will run throughout the 2016-17 winter season. The flight will use a 468-seat Boeing 777-300, which will be configured in three classes—14 business class, 32 premium economy and 422 economy seats.

SkyTeam member Air France-KLM serves 27 destinations in Central and South America and the Caribbean. Together, both carriers offer more than 200 weekly frequencies from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol to the region.

Aircraft manufacturers Airbus, Boeing and Embraer have recently predicted a large demand for aircraft serving the Latin America and Caribbean region over the next 20 years as they anticipate strong long-term air traffic growth, despite recent economic headwinds.

Air France chairman and CEO Frédéric Gagey said, “By offering two new direct flights between Paris and San José, we are connecting all of Europe to an exceptional tourist destination. With this new offer, we also aim to support the vibrant economy of Costa Rica, the leading market in Central America.”

Costa Rica president Luis Guillermo Solís added: “As part of a vast network of connecting flights, the new route will also serve as a gateway to Central America for European tourists. This will boost our country’s tourism industry and benefit over 600,000 people working in this sector directly or indirectly as well as business lines for which tourism represents a growth opportunity.”

Air France-KLM destinations in Central and South America and the Caribbean include Aruba, Bogota, Bonaire, Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Cancun, Cali, Caracas, Cayenne, Curaçao, Fort-de-France, Guayaquil, Havana, Lima, Mexico, Montevideo, Panama, Paramaribo, Pointe-à-Pitre, Port-au- Prince, Punta Cana, Quito, San Domingo, Saint-Martin, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
