[Barbados] Cabinet ready to approve Civil Aviation Authority
Monday, 05 December 2011

The island has moved a step closer to meeting the conditions that will allow Barbados-based carriers like REDjet, to fly into the United States.

That's because the island is on the verge of establishing the proposed Civil Aviation Authority, a precondition for the Grantley Adams International Airport receiving Category One status from the Federal Aviation Authority in the USA.

According to International Transport and International Business Minister, George Hutson, Cabinet is set to agree to the authority's creation soon.

Mr. Hutson made the comments at a thanksgiving service to launch the week of celebrations in commemoration of International Civil Aviation Day at the Providence Methodist Church in Christ Church.

He believes changes must be made to allow young people to get jobs in the civil aviation industry.
