Gouveia recalled when he first established the airline company; stating the circumstances were not as great as they are today. The managing director said in his view 95 per cent of the economy was controlled by the state and the services sector was something that was never discussed.

“I say very humbly that I don’t think that another company in the entire Caribbean was able to achieve what the staff of Roraima Airways was able to achieve in the last 20 years, in terms of the vertical integration and synergies that is offered,” he said.

A full circle of services is provided by the Roraima Group of Companies. Gouveia recalled when the hotel was first established; they only had 400 to 500 visitors each year; now, rooms are always filled with more than 5000 visitors each year. There has been an increase in demand for services across the Roraima Group. As part of plans to mark the anniversary, Gouveia said he is now looking to buy new plans for his air service, build a banquet hall in the capital and build a hotel close to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).

Additionally, the company will be offering a 10 per cent discount on tours, and at hotels, restaurants, and bars. Several other activities, including an award ceremony, will be held.Roraima Airways was established in November 1992 and commenced operations as a domestic airline.

The co-founders of Roraima Airways are Captains Gerry and Debbie Gouveia, qualified air transport operators and pilots. Over the years, the company has grown into a conglomerate of 10 divisions: Roraima Airways, Duke Lodge Hotel, Residence Inn, Arrowpoint Nature Resort, Roraima Tours, Airline Handling Services, Airline Aviation Security Services, an executive and first class lounge, resting lounge, and Air Medical Evacuation Services. The company employs approximately 200 employees.
