Jun 9, 2015

Eagle Aviation broke ground recently on a new facility at Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix that will offer volume fuel sales, hangar space and a medical ready-room, for stabilization of patients during air ambulance operations.

The 35,000-square-foot facility will have 25,000 square feet of hangar space and 10,000 square feet of office space, as well as conference room and training room facilities, making it one of the largest facilities of its kind in the Caribbean.

As a Fixed Base Operator at Rohlsen Airport, Eagle Aviation will serve general and commercial aviation.

At the groundbreaking on May 28, Eagle Aviation announced the immediate availability of some services and presented a plan of scheduled services as the facility continues through construction.

In partnership with Medical Air Services Association -- MASA -- Eagle Aviation announced availability of increased air ambulance services with modern equipment and some of the fastest aircraft in the Caribbean.

With four aircraft currently operational, MASA also said it has plans to purchase two additional jet aircraft to add to the fleet.

Eagle Aviation and MASA aircraft include two Bombardier LearJet 55 jet aircraft, a Beechcraft Super King Air and a Piper Navajo Panther.

The charter and air ambulance service coverage area includes regions of the United States from Texas eastward to the East Coast, from the New England area south to the Gulf of Mexico; Central America; portions of South America and all of the Caribbean.

In addition, Eagle Aviation will host the Governor General's Cup Caribbean Air Rally in April 2016 on St. Croix. The Air Rally is a 12-day Caribbean journey consisting of more than 180 pilots that fly from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., throughout the Caribbean promoting the beauty of the Caribbean islands and the hospitality of the people.

This will be the first time that the Air Rally will be stopping in St. Croix and they have plans to make St. Croix a permanent annual stopover, enjoying St. Croix hotels, cuisine, transportation services and tourism.

MASA Assist, is an international organization that provides members with emergency assistance services while they are at home, on the job, or traveling around the world.
