May 19, 2016

Eastern Airlines One Guyana Air has been granted approval by the United States Department of Transportation and the Government of Guyana for flights to New York and to Miami.

The carrier is expected to make its inaugural flight on May 20, 2016 at 15:00 hours at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

The twice weekly flight service will give Guyanese in Florida and other US states an additional option in air travel to Guyana for the Golden Jubilee Independence celebrations on May 26.

The service is expected to continue from July 1 through September 11, 2016. Due to the overwhelming demand for passenger air transport to Guyana for the 50th Independence anniversary celebrations, One Guyana Air Travel through TRAVELSPAN and other travel companies, will collaborate to meet the demand of the travelling public who are excited to be a part of this historic occasion or just visiting family and friends.

According to the sales and marketing Director, Chaitram Persaud, at One Guyana Air, the departure and arrival times to and from Miami have been planned to facilitate convenient connections for passengers travelling from other major cities in the continental United States, Canadian and European cities.

Persaud asserted, “With the infrastructure, experience and expertise of Travelspan, ONE GUYANA AIR and EASTERN AIR LINES are committed to providing our customers with a superior quality of service and wish to assure the travelling public we’ll do our utmost to ensure their comfort, safety and a hassle free travel experience,”

One Guyana Air Travel, made the announcement of the new venture earlier. It said that it will be travelling to Guyana from JFK, New York and Miami, Florida.

Eastern Air Lines currently flies a fleet of five Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Its latest aircraft delivery was on February 5, 2016.

“Eastern Air Lines is currently working in assembling a fleet of Next Generation aircraft, and has signed an initial order with Boeing for new 737-800 aircraft with deliveries commencing in April 2017,” the company had said in February.

The airline currently operates chartered services to many US and international cities including Havana, San Jose, Santiago, Nassau, Bridgetown, among many other destinations.
