Falcon Air wet leased a MD83 to Haitian Aviation to replace Insel Air between Miami and Port au Prince
Mon, Jul 22nd, 2013

A New Airline is borne in Haiti as a National Airline to fill the vacancy in the market left by Insel Air which operated that route and unannounced abandoned it this month.

Falcon has wet leased one of its aircrafts to Haitian Aviation and started operating since July 19 of this year. The Curacao airline, Dutch Antilles Express (DAE) has held a couple of meetings with them and is studying the possibility of entering into some kind of cooperation to operate with them the highly demanded route, but a decision has not been reached yet.

“I want to see how they do first and I want to understand and analyze if their vision and mission matches or complement ours. Choosing a partner in this industry is and should be a process. It is just like marriage, you don’t just jump into it,” Ramiz commented. “In the mean time we wish them success.”

DAE is also maintaining Haiti-Miami in its short term plan and will continue observing the development of our Curacao-Haiti flights which started with excellent performance.

“Haiti is also Category 2 like Curacao, so the ONLY way that Haitian Aviation could operate to USA is by wet leasing an aircraft from a Category 1 Flag Carrier Airline like Falcon and I am glad that my son who runs Falcon Air helped them and leased this aircraft to them,” Ramiz said.

Falcon today has 10 MD83 in service and adding two more aircraft within the next 3 months.
