Air Europa Adds Puerto Rico Route

Air Europa, a very prominent European commercial carrier, announced early today that it plans to launch a new route to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The scheduled start date for the flights is May 22, 2014 and there will be two flights weekly that leave London’s Gatwick Airport, stop at Madrid Barajas Airport and then proceed on to the sunny Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

The new route is part of an ongoing strategy by the huge European-based airline company to expand its services to Central America, South America and, as is obvious by the new route to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the Caribbean, as well.

As part of that strategy, Europa Air opened a route earlier this year to Montevideo, Uruguay, a city growing in popularity with travelers from every part of the globe. Air Europa will also open a route before year’s end to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Clearly, this growing company has set its sights on global expansion and believes it has the customer base to make such a strategy work effectively.

While San Juan, Puerto Rico and Sao Paulo, Brazil will be the second and third new routes opened by Air Europa in 2013, the company gave no indication that there are other new routes it plans to open in the near future.
