Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday it will begin nonstop service to the Dominican Republic and expand the number of flights to Mexico.

The Denver-based carrier said the seasonal service between Denver International Airport and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, will begin June 9 and run through Aug. 4.

The Saturday flight will leave Denver at 8:05 a.m. and arrive at 3:30 p.m. The A319 aircraft leaves the Dominican Republic at 4:20 p.m. and arrives in Denver at 8:30 p.m.

Frontier said the new route will give the airline 68 nonstop flights from Denver.

Frontier also said it will double its existing nonstop seasonal service between Denver and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with the addition of a second flight. The airline already flies between the two cities on Saturday. The additional flight will be on Wednesdays from May 23 to Aug. 8.

The Wednesday and Saturday flights will leave Denver at 8:36 a.m. and arrive at 11:39 a.m. The return trip leaves at 12:30 p.m. and arrives in Denver at 3:33 p.m.

Frontier is offering introductory fares of $350 each week for the Denver-Punta Cana service and $246 each way for the Denver-Cabo San Lucas route.

“Frontier’s new service announcement is good indication of the airline’s continued commitment to the Denver market,” Kim Day, aviation manager at DIA, said in a statement. “This new route will be the first nonstop flight from Denver to the Caribbean and will open Colorado’s doors to a new country. Growing international service is one of our top priorities at DIA and we’re excited to add the Dominican Republic to the list of destinations we serve.”
