Fly Jamaica warns against bogus ticket promotions

JAMAICA-based airline, Fly Jamaica is warning its customers against a fake website claiming to offer ticket promotions on the company’s behalf.

According to a public notice from Jamaica, the company is advising that no such campaign is ongoing, nor does it have any affiliation with the dubious website. “Please be advised that Fly Jamaica Airways is not running any competition or giving away free tickets at present. Fly Jamaica Airways has no connection with the website

The company says it is unaware as to who is running the website, and is warning customers that they are not communicating with the company or its agents when engaging the bogus website.
Customers are also being asked to take care when sharing personal information Online, and to pay attention as to whether they are on the correct website when conducting business.

Fly Jamaica says that the offer to win free airline tickets is also being circulated via Whatsapp with the company’s original link posted on the fake website; “The offers are not from Fly Jamaica Airways, and we would like to emphasise that Fly Jamaica Airways is in no way affiliated with this site or the associated Facebook page,” the statement says, adding: “If you are approached about the offer by friends or loved ones, please advise them to not use the site as the site seems to be part of a phishing scam to get unsuspecting persons’ personal information.”

Fly Jamaica said it has contacted the host of the website to have the site removed, “but we are still awaiting action on their end.” In the interim, customers are advised to check Fly Jamaica’s official website for any special offers they might see on the Internet.

The company also says it can be emailed at for further information. The ongoing scam has targetted thousands of persons moving between the routes where Fly Jamaica operates. These include Guyana, Jamaica, the New York and Canada.
