[Barbados] Griffith: More airlift on cards
14 April 2016

AIRLIFT FROM the United Kingdom (UK) to Barbados is expected to grow as Virgin Atlantic and British Airways are looking to increase their seat capacity to the island.

Additionally, chief executive officer of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), William “Billy” Griffith, said the air passenger duty for the UK had not been affecting arrivals from that jurisdiction.

In fact, he pointed out that the numbers were still up by double digits and continued to trend higher as seats were “quite solidly booked for most spots of the year”.

The tourist industry veteran explained that Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, which operate direct flights between Barbados and the UK, were in discussion with the BTMI recently about increasing their seat capacity in the next 12 months.
