August 29, 2018

Commencing November 1, 2018 Air Antilles will fly into Dominica at nights increasing air access into the island. This was announced by Chief Executive Officer of the Dominica Air and Sea Port Authority (DASPA) Benoit Bardouille on Wednesday 29 August 2018.

“We do have a committee that has been working for some time now to try to see how we can improve air access into Dominica and so with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the air access committee of Discover Dominica have successfully negotiated an additional two thousand and sixteen seats into the destination from two new flights added by Air Antilles.”

The flight will depart Pointe-a-Pitre at 9 p.m. arriving in Dominica at 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays. The plane will overnight in Dominica and depart at 5:30 a.m. on Fridays and Mondays arriving in Pointe-a-Pitre at 6 a.m.

Bardouille said these flights will terminate for the season on March 29, 2019. A total of forty-two flights will be operated utilizing an ATR 42 which has a seating capacity of forty-eight passengers.

“All this is in an effort so that we can enable persons to be able to connect to and from Dominica utilizing a window that has been created through negotiations with the airlines.”

He added that when persons travel they are most times interested in pricing and convenience, therefore these new flights will seek to address both these concerns by travelers to Dominica.

These additional flights will allow travelers to connect from the US on a Norwegian flight from JFK New York flight and from flights from Europe on Air France, Air Caribe, Corsair, Level and XL Airways.

“With these arrangements we have once again fulfilled the objective of travelers additional options in their airline departure gateways…With the introduction of these new service travelers to Dominica will benefit by having that same day connection, lowering their overall cost of travel. Travelers will benefit from the same day access,” Bardouille added.
