MIA lands new daily flights to Santo Domingo
Sep 15, 2016

Miami International Airport has added new daily flights to one of its busiest international markets.

The South Florida airport announced that Pan American World Airways Dominicana will begin two daily flights from Miami to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on Nov. 16. It will be the airline's first destination outside of the Caribbean and will use a MD-83 aircraft with 160 seats.

The Dominican Republic is MIA's fourth-busiest international market, with more than one million passengers annually.

Another carrier to serve travelers between Miami and the Dominican Republic will be Dominican Wings. It will begin weekly flights to Punta Cana and Santo Domingo on Sept. 29.

MIA began September with 103 passenger and cargo carriers and will add four new international passenger airlines and one cargo-only airline as it heads into the busiest time of the year for travel.

"Congratulations to PAWA Dominicana, who will join what is already a bountiful crop of new airlines starting service at MIA this fall," said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. González. "The new service will provide a boost to one our top international markets, and continue our push towards a strong finish in 2016 ."
