Atlantic Southeast plans Jamaica charters

Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines plans to launch chartered flights between Atlanta and Kingston, Jamaica, from Sept. 11 to Dec. 13, pending government approval.

ASA hopes to capitalize on the closure of Air Jamaica's Atlanta route last year, where it operated one daily nonstop. Air Jamaica claimed at the time that it could not fill its planes because of a lack of connections into Atlanta.

ASA connects to 113 airports in 31 states as well as the District of Columbia, the Bahamas and Canada.
