[JCAA] 'More protection needed for air travellers'
Tuesday | January 16, 2018

Director General of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority, Nari Williams-Singh, says there is need for greater consumer protection in relation to aviation services in Jamaica. His comments follow recent complaints by passengers on Fly Jamaica, who were stranded and inconvenienced for days because of delayed flights.

He says the authority has been in discussions with the Consumer Affairs Commission since last year to put in place such protections. He notes that protections exist in relation to baggage but more needs to be done.

Williams-Singh says the JCAA has been in discussion with Fly Jamaica about the recent incidents in relation to their economic permit and air operating certificate. He says the JCAA is watching developments in relation to the airline and will review its permits if needed.
