France: New Search for Wreckage In 2009 Air France Crash
By NICOLA CLARK
November 25, 2010

The French government said Thursday that investigators would mount a fresh search for the wreckage of an Air France jet that crashed in the mid-Atlantic 18 months ago. The effort, which is expected to begin in February, will follow three previous attempts by the government, Air France and Airbus, the manufacturer of the plane, an A330-200. All 228 passengers and crew members were killed when Flight 447 went down in heavy thunderstorms while flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris on June 1, 2009. The searches yielded more than 600 pieces of debris, but the flight recorders have not been found.
