Condor Airlines resumed its direct flight service from Frankfurt, Germany, on Saturday after three years. The ten-hour flight landed in the afternoon, bringing 136 passengers to Grenada.

The weekly flight service will continue until April 11, 2015, and is expected to boost visitor arrivals from Germany by almost 50 percent. Some 829 visitors came from the European country during the first half of 2014.

The Grenada Tourism Authority hosted a welcome ceremony for the flight crew and a simultaneous meet and greet for the passengers.

“Condor’s return is a result of the persistence of our minister of tourism and civil aviation, Alexandra Otway-Noel, who is committed to increasing airlift and deepening our connections with Germany,” said Senator Brenda Hood, acting minister of tourism and civil aviation, at the welcome ceremony.

Efforts continue to market destination Pure Grenada -- the Spice of the Caribbean -- to the German market. The German office of the Grenada Tourism Authority has been engaging in marketing strategies like road shows, travel agent seminars, and advertising. From November 12 to 29, the GTA will host sixteen 16 travel agents, tour operators and journalists from Germany who will experience the tri-island state and return to Germany to promote Grenadian vacations.
