Continental Airlines launches nonstop flights to Curacao from Newark
December 9th, 2010

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao — Continental Airlines is launching twice-weekly nonstop service, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Curaçao International Airport (CUR), on December 18, 2010. The new service makes Curaçao, the world’s newest country as of October 10, 2010, more accessible to the Tri-State area than ever.
Continental Flight CO1862 will depart Newark at 8:50 a.m. and arrive in Curaçao at 2:40 p.m. Continental Flight CO1863 will depart Curaçao at 3:40 p.m. and arrive in Newark at 7:40 p.m.
“We are pleased to announce of the launch of Continental’s year-round nonstop, twice weekly flights to Curaçao,” said Curaçao Tourist Board Marketing Manager North America André Rojer. “The new Continental service brings huge potential for growth in arrivals to Curaçao from our primary markets of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. We also expect increased arrivals on this route from Canada.”

Continental previously offered weekly, seasonal nonstop flights from Newark to Curaçao. With new nonstop flights available, travelers looking to escape the chill of the winter months in the Tri-State area will find it impossible to resist Curaçao’s “Escape the Winter Blues” offer. Guests will delight in leaving the cold weather behind, in exchange for Curaçao’s year-round tropical, sun-drenched beaches with vibrant and colorful scenery.

Those who book a holiday in Curaçao will save money by getting a fourth night free by booking before January 8, 2011 for travel between January 1 and April 1, 2011.

Curaçao becoming its own country on October 10, 2010 has helped to propel the island onto North America’s travel radar as an up-and-coming destination for 2011. Curaçao’s new country status, as well as increased airlift from Continental Airlines, new attractions, endless natural beauty and vast cultural offerings, is propelling it into the spotlight, making the Dutch Caribbean isle a spot North Americans are quickly adding to their must-visit list.
