American Airlines inaugurates 28 routes this week, including a return to St. Maarten and St. Thomas from New York and Philadelphia
Dec 19 2018

American Airlines is launching 28 flights across its network this week, with more opportunities for travel throughout the U.S., the Caribbean and South America. With the launch of 12 flights to the Caribbean — including The Bahamas; Aruba; and Grand Cayman — five flights to Miami, and two new ways get to Sarasota, Florida, American is offering several reasons to trade in snow for sand.

Additionally, the airline is starting the only service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires, Argentina; introducing a new destination with service to Oaxaca, Mexico (OAX), from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW); and resuming service to St. Thomas (STT) and St. Maarten (SXM) from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York which had previously been suspended following Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.

As these routes take flight this week, there will be several events hosted at gates for customers to celebrate the new service. See below for the full list of new routes.

American also recently revealed 18 new domestic and Canadian routes beginning next summer in addition to previously announced seasonal service to Europe, including new destinations Bologna, Italy (BLQ); Dubrovnik, Croatia (DBV); and Berlin, Germany (TXL). The airline is also introducing a sixth destination in Cuba with service to Antonio Maceo International Airport (SCU) in Santiago de Cuba beginning in May, followed by new service to Durango International Airport (DGO) in Mexico in June. All of these routes and more are available for purchase now.
