American Airlines remains top flier to Jamaica
Sunday | October 8, 2017

American Airlines remains the number one airline flying into Jamaica.

The carrier boarded 1,145,395 passengers in annual flights to and from Jamaica, giving it a market share of 37 per cent, according to global statistics from International Aviation Transportation Authority's Direct Data Solutions.

Its closest rivals are Delta, which has 20 per cent of the Jamaican market, followed by Southwest and JetBlue.

The airline says the Caribbean is an important part of its global network, where it serves 37 destinations.

It operates flights to Kingston from its hub in Miami, and to Montego Bay from Miami, Charlotte, Philadelphia and Dallas Fort Worth.

"We have proudly served Jamaica for 40 years and currently fly 50 weekly flights between Jamaica and the USA," the airline said through its corporate communications unit.

The airline was not willing to divulge profits related to Jamaica or the Caribbean.

Worldwide, American operates in 350 destinations and 35,000 markets, with partners in Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Pacific.
