Members of the Guild of Antigua & Barbuda Air Traffic Control Officers (GABATCO) will have to wait until Friday for a resolution in their ongoing salary negotiations. A response to their proposal, submitted roughly two weeks ago, was originally due Monday, but was postponed due to the unavailability of Minister of Finance Dr Errol Cort.

Speaking to Caribarena, Public Relations Officer for GABTCO Wesley Joseph said, "Minister Cort is off island, and we find that we should not have a meeting without him." He noted, "They have already addressed issue such as travel benefits, allowances with regard to the duty free; these have already been addressed, the part with the salary however (is the main issue)."

Joseph did not disclose what action GABATCO would take if the government does not come back with a favourable response, and would only say the necessary action would be taken.

The members of GABTACO have been protesting unacceptable working conditions since 2007. Joseph said that inadequate salary packages are the only issue they are currently dissatisfied with.
