Winair unexpectedly pulls plug on CN-express
Wed, Jan 3rd, 2018

The start of CN Express, the direct flight between Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba, is experiencing an unexpected but serious delay. The connection between the three islands of the Caribbean Netherlands would originally have started early January, 2018.

The Ministries of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) and Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW) jointly with RCN wanted to establish a direct connection between Bonaire and St. Eustatius, and from St. Eustatius to Saba. The flights were to be operated by St. Maarten based Winair, making use of a third-party aircraft.

The RCN communications department is informing the public that, although there was initially a principle agreement between the parties, Winair has now backed out of the agreement. This, according to RCN, makes it impossible to start with the execution of the air connection at this moment. According to the information received, the ministries are now looking at possible other solutions.
