SIMPSON BAY, Airport Road

On January 31st 2015 as the sunset at Princess Juliana International Airport so did the career of Captain Age Brouwer after 27-years of service. Captain Brouwer retired after touching down at PJIA for the last time at 6:24PM to a large gathering of WINAIR staff members on the Tarmac.

Captain Brouwer was given a water salute by the airport fire department after his final landing, witnessed by president of WINAIR's board Mr. Georges Greaux, CEO Mr. Michael Cleaver, his wife Ms. Celia Martinez Brouwer, daughters Anjelica Brouwer, Diana Brouwer and a large cross section of employees from every department in the airline.

Captain Brouwer's final flight arrived from SABA where he was surprised with the large turnout. Saba representatives included Johnson Travel Services, the island government of Saba, former Senator Will Johnson and Commissioner Vernon Hassell, Airport Management, Air Traffic Controllers, Security personnel, Fire Department, were all in attendance to bid a special farewell.

The well respected and admired WINAIR captain was presented with gifts, cards, hugs, happy birthday and cheers of "SABA loves you Captain Brouwer".

Some tears were shed as well. Captain Brouwer has been working with WINAIR since 1984 and is now retired at the age of 65. In 2013 the Island Government of Saba honored Brouwer during the annual Saba Day Celebration. WINAIR continued its celebration across from its corporate office until late Saturday evening. During a brief speech Captain Brouwer expressed how much he loved working for the national airline.
